Touching Someone's Blood

is undoubtedly the best: Kilian Jornet

then transcribe an article / interview with Barbara in SportVicious Sagi.

...

We are all up to date with multiple victories and challenges of racing Jornet Kilian Trail, Ultra Trail and Ski Mountaineering. It is surprising, his recent world record ascent and descent of Kilimanjaro in 7 hours and 15 minutes, Champion Ultra Trail Mont Blanc 2008, 2009, Transpirenaica in 8 days, GR20, Corsica Cruise, Tahoe Rim Trial, Alpine Marathon Zegama-Aizborn, Championship of Spain time trial, Spain Cup Ski Mountain and many more.

But what surprises me more and not hear or write about it, is undoubtedly his personality: nice, friendly, sociable, cheerful, attentive to all the people, humble. It is worthy of admiration!. Today there are no people like being there Kilian that they rise above the nonsense at the top.

Kilian personally met in the Ultra Trail of Montblanc in 2008, we were talking and I used to ask him a thousand questions. When we left we wish you good luck for the race. I got a good memory of him as a person. To him we are all equal participants in the race X, period. That year I left the race in Courmayeur and headed for the goal to see how Kilian entered triumphantly.

Last year I again have the opportunity to chat with Kilian on the Ultra Trail of the Montblanc 2010, was just after the cancellation of the race. We talked about everything that happened and how was the cancellation of the race. I was shocked and thought that the organization had not made the right decision, so much so he decided not to go racing in protest.

I decided to interview Kilian and here is the result!

SportVicious: What does a week of training Kilian? Kilian

Jornet: Much depends on the week, if you get to do volume, rest for a career, adaptation ... and the type of career preparation, it is not the same as preparing a Ultratrail a Vertical Km.

In general terms do two seasons: November to late April I only ski mountain, and with weeks of up to 35 hours the most and weeks of 15 hours of racing. In total I make some 270000m and 500 hours. In summer, I run about 450 hours and 50 hours of cycling weeks in between 15 and 40 h.

SV: How many days off do you usually do?

KJ: Two days before a race I make a day of rest. If there is no race, no rest.

SV: Where do you usually train?

KJ: Depending on where the race, I usually move much. In winter, November and December we do not have careers, and train in Font Romeu, with a couple of weeks of work experience in Tignes. Since then, we race every weekend and we move, Font Romeu, Manigod, Alps, Pyrenees ... where we are. In summer the same if the races are in Europe and I take my truck traveling and training. I really like the area of \u200b\u200bBormio and Chamonix.

SV: How and when you plan the season?

KJ: The ski in October and running in April. How? depending on the races to do, skiing is easy as always is a similar schedule. Volume until January, career paths until March and then racing team. In summer, much depends on the races and I do every week.

SV: What criteria you use to decide which races you will compete both skiing and running?

KJ: In skiing, the official World Cup and World Championships of Circuit ISMF and "The Big Course. In summer, I liked and I repeat and I crave to discover. I look at is the way, the place, mythical race, level, the environment ...

SV: What do you like the workouts?

KJ: Making every day a new thing and go exploring.

SV: And the least?

KJ: The days I do not feel well, you're tired but you have to leave.

SV: How many hours do you sleep?

KJ: Between 7 and 8

SV: Still a diet? What is it based?

KJ: No, the truth is I always say that things should be left for later and this is one of them. Do not deprive me of anything, I love chocolate, pizza ... the end, if you train you burn everything.

SV: What do you enjoy doing when not training?

KJ: Stay connected to the sport with the material, coaches or off reading or listening to music. And travel.

SV: What do you like a career?

KJ: In ski racing, competition, we're all together and to be very fast. Of running, feelings about yourself and discover the landscapes.

SV: And the least?

KJ: The resort, which is dependent on material. The running, nothing.

SV: What has been your worst moment in racing?

KJ: On the slopes, a young man, the frustrations of losing a race, having to leave for breaking material hurts a lot, but over the years you learn to relativize and see that there are more races that day. Worse, some falls that I have made it out. As for running, hard times, like the Tahoe Rim Trail, in WS100 Transpyrenaica or, but in the end these are the moments that make you remember and learn.

SV: And the best?

KJ: Cross: first World Cup victory in Valerette the PierraMenta with Florent Troillet and VR of Andorra. Running: It would be hard to pick a single moment, the arrival of the TRT, Piris, GR20, Zegama, Giir di Mont with Marco De Gasperi, Valmalenco ...

SV: How do you celebrate your achievements? And with whom?

KJ: Thinking about the following, I'm not much to celebrate, I think what has happened in the race must remain in the race, and not be swayed by emotion more than the minutes after the arrival.

SV: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start in the Ultras?

KJ: Have fun every day, you do not see the train as an obligation. And that race is not obsessed with time, come out and go by and enjoy the race, the environment, landscapes ...

SV: What about ski mountain?

KJ: The same, and in the race, try to get rested and prepared very well all the material, look at the course, the snow ...

SV: Have you ever participated in asphalt racing? What, how many miles and how long did it?

KJ: No

SV: Do you like sports?

KJ: Solid water!

SV: What sport you like but do not practice?

KJ: The mountaineering and high altitude.

SV: What career would you like to participate and even today have not done?

KJ: A lot, and I participate in the coming years, both in running and mountain skiing.
