New release from the ISU. While waiting for news at the moment the date is maintained

Press to-day March 13, 2011 - 11:49 h-

ISU sympathizes deeply with the Japanese people in this monstrous natural disaster and will extend its support and comfort all those affected.

Since the beginning of this crisis, the ISU is following the situation very closely in cooperation with the Japan Skating Federation (JSF) which in turn is in contact with the competent Japanese authorities. The ISU has taken note of the initial entry of the JSF over the situation in Tokyo and has complied with his initial desire to keep the championship as planned.

However, recent events from Saturday, including the evolution of the Fukushima nuclear plant are of great concern and led to warnings to travelers from many countries to avoid travel to Japan until the situation is resolved . ISU continues to monitor the situation in collaboration with the JSF and the Japanese authorities to reach a conclusion as to maintain or cancel the Championship in Tokyo scheduled for next week.

While ISU is waiting for the declaration of the Japanese authorities should be ready soon, the ISU will release a further statement as soon as possible but no later than Monday morning , March 14, 2011 (European time).
